The Ion revolutionised the tournament paintball marker allowing more players to enter with elecropneumatic markers. Smart Parts has continued to develop the design to now offer multiple firing modes and a break-beam Vision anti-chop eye system. The Ion XE has an all new "Bolt-Out-Back" design making the new Ion easier to maintain than ever before, requiring just one allen key to remove the entire bolt sleeve, bolt and bolt stop from the rear of the marker, giving complete access to the entire bolt and valve assembly.
